Description
These high quality ceramic pieces were hand crafted from a thin slab of carefully compressed clay. It was cut out, formed and slumped into shape by hand. The artist also created the underglaze colours that were slipped onto the surface of these vessels. After it was bisque-fired a clear glaze was applied over the top of the painted pattern. The glost firing process vitrified the porcelain-stoneware making it impervious to water.
The resulting ceramic piece is very durable. It is not easily broken or chipped but, like all pottery, it is susceptible to breakage from thermal shock and dropping from height onto hard surfaces. This ceramic art is food=safe, can be put in the dishwasher, used in conventional and microwave ovens. And it looks so pretty on a dressing table!
