Description
This fine ceramic piece was hand crafted from a very thin slab of carefully compressed clay. It was impressed, cut out, formed and slumped into shape by hand. Yellow underglaze was painted over the impressed surface before it was bisque-fired. A clear glaze was then applied over the entire top surface. It was then glost fired to vitrify the porcelain-stoneware making it impervious to water.
Although It appears fragile. he resulting ceramic piece is actually very durable. It is not easily broken or chipped but, like all pottery, it is susceptible to breakage from thermal shock and dropping from height onto hard surfaces. This ceramic piece is food-safe, can be put in the dishwasher, and be used in both conventional and microwave ovens.
